Children & Family Therapy
Childhood can be difficult! We all grow up and experience challenges and early adolescence is no different. In today’s day and age, our children are facing challenges that we may not be able to fully prepare them for. Social media, a global pandemic, financial instability and racial injustices are all a part of the lives of our children from a very young age. These factors can cause stress which impacts our children in ways that may present themselves as anger, sadness or behavioral issues. It can be a difficult time to be a kid. Our children are exposed to so much of the world that at times it can be hard for them to cope. When combining all of these factors with the usual challenges and trials to growing up, it can be a lot to handle.
Wouldn’t it be nice for our children to have a safe space to process their emotions and feelings? That’s where we at Niyyah Counseling come in! Not only can we provide your child with the space to be themselves and express themselves, we can also teach them how to cope with the challenges of everyday life and help them through the turbulence that is childhood. At Niyyah, we understand that in life it is not only about the big events, but the small day to day moments as well. We understand that your child losing their favorite pencil may not actually be the end of the world, but in that moment, it can certainly feel like it. Our approach is to empower children in order to allow them to grow and truly be themselves.
Childhood can be a confusing time, children can often feel powerless and like they have no control. Situations can arise that affect our children that we may not immediately realize. From the state of the world, to the state of their home, our children are often more aware than we realize. In life we generally learn ways and abilities to cope with these situations and stressors, but the truth is our children are often facing them without all the tools you or I have at our disposal. At Niyyah Counseling services, we can help your children learn to cope with stressors in a healthy and positive manner.
Here at Niyyah Counseling, we realize that the lessons learned in therapy do not stop when the session ends. That’s where parent engagement comes in! By including you as a parent into steps of our therapeutic process when deemed necessary, we can further cement the lessons learned in each session. Practicing healthy coping skills at home can do wonders for long term outcomes for children. Children also often learn by mirroring the behavior seen around them. This means that the more we can show our children healthy ways to cope, the more successful they can be! By including the family, our children can witness healthy skills both in the session and at home.
